If you’re new to ChatGen, kindly sign up and create your account by visiting Chatgen. After creating an account on ChatGen please follow the steps given below.
Step1: To start the process, please visit Facebook’s Developer’s page and click on Get Started and login to your account.
Step 2: Once you have logged in, move the mouse to My Apps on the top right and click on ‘Create App’.
Step 3: Enter your email ID along with the name that you want the bot to be addressed by and click on ‘Create App ID’.
Step 4: Click on the setup option of Messenger.
Step 5: Once you have selected the Messenger option, a new page will come up and then click on the ‘Add or remove pages’ and select the page(s) from the list of your FB pages with which you want to integrate the bot.
Step 6: Click on ‘Generate Token’ once the Facebook page is displayed in the list like the image below and copy the token.
Step 7: Now go to the ChatGen dashboard and click on the dialogue section. Once you reach there, go on to the Messenger tab as shown in the image below.
Step 8: Click on the Enable option for your desired flow.
Step 9: After enabling it, click on the name of the flow with which that you want to continue.
Step 10: Paste the token copied in ‘Step 6’ in the third option i.e. ‘Page Token’ under the Facebook Integration section.
Step 11: Return to the Facebook developer dashboard and click on basic under Settings. There you’ll find the ‘App Secret’, click on the show button and copy the data after authenticating your credentials.
Step 12: Now return to the ChatGen window and paste the App Secret code copied in Step 11 in the 2nd text box i.e. ‘App Secret’ and give any name in the Name section and click on ‘Get Token’.
Step: 13: On clicking the ‘Get Token’, Callback data along with Token would be displayed. Once this is done click on the Publish button on the top right corner.
Step 14: Return to the FB Developer’s page, click on the ‘Add Callback URL’ and paste the Token and Callback URL generated in step 13 one by one and click on ‘Verify and Save’.
Step 15: Click on ‘Add Subscriptions’ after the name of your page is displayed.
Step 16: A Subscription option will now popup, then select the options from the list like the image below and click on save.
Step 17: Now to make the bot visible to the users, scroll down to App Review for Messenger and select ‘Add to Submission’ of the first option i.e. pages_messaging.
Step 18: Now come down to the end of the page and click on add details to provide the details that Facebook requires.
Step 19: Click on ‘Submit For Review’ once you’ve shared the appropriate details.
Step 20: Make sure that your account is verified and if it’s not kindly go to basic under settings and complete either business or individual verification appropriate to the page.
Step 21: To start testing the flow as an admin return to the ChatGen dashboard and click on number 7 from the list i.e. ‘Configure your conversation’.
Step 22: Here you need to set any message on the text box, save it and select ‘Publish’ on top of the page. This is required for the bot to understand that someone wants to start the chat, in this case the message is given as ‘Hello’.
Step 23: Move the cursor to the messenger of your Facebook page and click on ‘Test Button’ from the list as explained in the image below to start chatting.
Your integration process is now complete. All you need to do is wait for the bot to go live for your visitors after Facebook completes their approval process as discussed in step 19. Until then you’re free to make changes on your flow and test the flow as an admin.
